2016 Best of Beauty | Yearly Favourites

Hello my lovelies and I am super sorry about how late this post is, it has been a long time coming and a post that I have been excited to be able to write about for the past few months. Today, I have my favourites from the entire year which were extremely difficult to pick out as there has been so many incredible products; both new and old, in the beauty world. After a very long debate, I have managed to narrow down my favourites to my top ten. Without further ado and in no particular order, let's get straight in..
  • Starting with a product which has landed itself in many bloggers yearly favourites is the Sleek Cosmetic Highlighting Palette in Solstice. I believe that this was their first highlighting palette to be launched and the hype for this product was insane. Retailing at £10, you get four stunning and really well sized highlighters which work wonders in specific areas of your face.. or if you're anything like me, all over your face. This product was shortlisted for the Pure Beauty Awards 2016 and is honestly worth the hype. I love the gold, sophisticated packaging and this palette includes three powdered highlighters and one cream highlighter, making it suitable for most peoples preference and even comes with a mirror. When I first saw these shades, I was slightly cautious about putting purple highlighter on my face however, I was wrong as this palette looks flawless on the skin and is sold at an incredible price. My favourite two shades within the palette are Subsolar and Equinox but they really are all gorgeous.
  • Next on my list is a primer that I have been adoring and using constantly since the beginning of 2016. This is the Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer and although it is slightly pricey for a drugstore product at £26, it is incredible. It definitely does its job by reducing the appearance of pores and making your foundation last all day. I think that this primer in particular takes a while to get used to as it does have a jelly formula and can often feel very thick if too much has been applied. This product has become a 'holy grail' of mine and I wouldn't be without it.
  • Continuing with Smashbox, the next product in my favourites is their Powder Contour Kit in the shade Light/Medium. Admittedly, at first (like most products) I felt that this was a big risk as it costs £35 and I was either going to love it or hate it. Thankfully, I loved it and use this every single day. On the other hand, I have sadly hit pan on all three shades but I like how this product divides into a contour shade, a bronzing shade and a highlighter. When purchasing, I was really keen to try out a powdered contour kit and I think that for the upcoming year, this will remain as my go-to contour palette. I don't use the highlighter often anymore simply because I faced my fears of trying out more out there, shimmery shades but this product was so worth the money and considering that I use this at every day, there is still so much product left.
  • This next product is probably a product that I have been trying to find for the longest time and it is indeed an eyebrow product that actually matches the shade of my brows without looking too dark or too light. This is the Benefit Gimme Brow in the shade 1, the lightest they sell. I loved the look of their entire new brow range and was so excited that they have six different shades. I also like how the shades have been named so simply because it makes it so much easier to try out other products from the range. This product is a tinted gel and fills in my brows so much with its tiny fiber applicator. I have tried a couple of other products from the range but this is by far my favourite. Again, this is quite a pricey product for how small it is but even my sample lasted a long time.
  • These next few products are eye products; eye-shadow to be precise but before applying eye-shadow, we need to prime our eyelids and I have been loving the Too Faced Shadow Insurance Glitter Glue Eye-Shadow Primer which I believe retails for around £17. I use this product for both normal shadows and when applying glitter to my lids and it has the perfect slightly sticky consistency allowing the glitter to stick. I am so glad that I came across this product and I wouldn't ever turn back. I also really want to try out their regular eye primer.
  • A product that works particularly well with the primer just spoken about, is the Urban Decay Moondust Palette. I was very reluctant to spend £35 on these eight vibrant shades because they are very 'out there' and extremely glittery; two things that I had been putting off using. However, this product was such an incredible buy and I have loved it ever since I bought it. So many gorgeous looks can be achieved and in my eyes; it is completely worth the money and comes with a full-size mirror. I just wish that Urban Decay would bring out a Custom made Moondust Palette because imagine being able to pick your own shades.. Please Urban Decay, make my dreams come true.
  • It is probably no surprise that there is another palette in my favourites and an extremely new favourite which I only got in the last few weeks of the year but am obsessed with and have been using ever since. This is the Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette which is so reasonably priced at £18 on Beauty Bay and includes ten gorgeous, warm toned and good-sized shades. The only downsize is that it doesn't have a mirror, but I am sure that I can get by without. I am so in love with this product and I am tempted to try out some of their other palettes. There was no way that this beauty was escaping my favourites, even if it was last minute.
  • The first lip product that I have been loving this year is a Mac Amplified Lipstick in the shade Dark Side. This is a deep Berry shade with a plum undertone and I adore it. When I first purchased it, I wasn't sure if to go for this shade or a Matte finish but I wear this product out all of the time, it can be worn with both casual and smart wear and adds an elegant finish to your make-up. This product can be found for £15.50 in any MAC store.
  • This next product was a bit of a surprise to me as I really didn't have high expectations for it. However, I was very wrong as the Tanya Burr Matte Liquid Lipstick in the shade Christmas Stocking which I picked up in October inside of her 2016 beauty advent calendar. This is a bright red and out of all of the liquid lipsticks that I have tried, this formula has the best pay off. It lasts absolutely all day, doesn't need topping up after eating and will only just budge with a make-up wipe. Unfortunately, this product isn't out for individual sale but I would assume that her other liquid lipsticks have the same formula and therefore I would recommend them.
  • Last but not least, the final favourite of mine for 2016 is a LUSH Cosmetics Perfume in the scent Honey I Washed The Kids; my absolute favourite scent out of all of their products. This perfume was extremely difficult to get hold of as it is a kitchen exclusive and was ridiculously expensive. Having said that, I adore this scent and it has made it into my top few favourite scents, it is just a shame that I have to be careful with how much I use due to the fact that it'd be so hard to find another.
I hope you've enjoyed my top ten favourites of 2016, do you have any similarities? What would be in your favourites?

Thank-you for reading, Tay x
